Eventually, he decided to put his considerable talents to work for the Democratic Party. The letter was signed by Mineta on Tuesday. It was received by the Mineta Center on Thursday morning and published in the Associated Press on Friday. The letter wasn't written to a single individual but to the staff of the center and was read out loud at the center's private reception Tuesday evening. "My dear friends," Mineta began, "as we begin this journey, I know that I will be meeting many new people. They may ask me questions, and I will do my best to answer them.
